Rustic villages and rocky trails are the staples of this exhilarating off-road tour from Obzor to the Balkan Mountains. Prepare to drive through rugged landscapes, discover remote hamlets and meet friendly villagers. You'll also enjoy activities such as air rifle shooting and a rakia tasting.
After zigzagging along uneven tracks, your first stop is at Dyulino, a village whose 400 inhabitants make it a virtual metropolis in this remote corner of the Western Balkan Mountains. Drop into its ethnographic exhibition before hitting the road again to Solnik – a village famed for its rakia distillery. You'll drop in and taste some of this plum brandy.
It's then time for some air rifle shooting in a local beauty spot before a well-deserved lunch. You'll drop into the home of a local and feast on traditional Bulgarian fare such as shopska salad, home-made bread, skewers with garnish and fruit all washed down with soft drinks, beer and, naturally, rakia.
