RC Collection: Basarbovo Monastery and Rousse Walking Tour

Three hours gets you a lot on this history filled walking tour. You’ll want a sturdy pair of shoes for starters, as your step count quota is guaranteed to be exceeded. The tour starts in the picturesque rock-hewn monastery of Saint Dimitar of Basarbovo. It’s a working monastery today, so you’ll see pilgrims going about their daily life. Check out the well dug by Saint Dimitar himself, as well as a large icon of the saint, depicted at his full height, in the rock church. From the monastery you’ll head back to the port of Rousse. Sip on a locally brewed coffee on the city promenade, before taking a guided tour that ticks off buildings with Art Nouveau-inspired facades. At the end of the tour, you’ve got some free time on your own to explore the city centre, before returning to the ship.
