It is located at a distance of 97 km. of the city of Sucre, it has impressive natural landscapes, it has four ecological floors: height, mountain range, head of valleys and valleys. It is also known as the land of peanuts. The weather is humid in the central zone; sub humid to the north and semi-arid.
It has ideal places to practice extreme and adventure sports such as rock climbing, rappelling, tubing in its mighty rivers, long walks, expeditions through the canyons, observation of its culture, fauna and flora.
Some archaeologists who visited this municipality said “at the eye of a good cubero,” that the mountain called Pilón de Azúcar has the largest fossil reserve in the world. Also, in another sector there are the oldest dinosaur tracks in South America.
The Icla Canyon is an ancient rock formation, forming narrow gorges with crystal clear water falls from the community of Lagunillas to Icla.
