We don't start talking about the first Portuguese settlers, we start with the Sambaqui Men, the first indigenous group to occupy the Island of Santa Catarina. We also make sure to clarify the role slavery has played in the foundations of the Brazilian Republic. But we also celebrate the time we are living in by gathering for a beer at a local traditional bar.
