Official Tour of Santiago Cathedral

+10 photos
On this tour you will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago and through some extensive stairs, you will be able to climb the bell tower and then up to an incredible viewpoint, located at the top of the temple. From here, you will have the best view of the historic center of Santiago, with an incredible panoramic view of the Plaza de Armas and the buildings around it, such as the Municipality of Santiago, the Chilean Post Office, the National Historical Museum, among others.
The history of the Metropolitan Cathedral dates back to 1745 when the construction of the current temple began, which is the fifth church built in this place, facing the Plaza de Armas. It was finally consecrated in 1775, and a few years later the Italian architect Joaquín Toesca was in charge of the construction of the façade that is currently seen. The Cathedral was declared a Historical Monument of Chile on July 6, 1951.
