Tianluokeng Earthen Building Cluster — The Classic Cluster
Among the more intriguing pieces of history in Fujian are the tulou -- large, round, rammed-earth buildings dating back centuries. Tianluokeng tulou cluster, have been inscribed in 2008 by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, as exceptional examples of a building tradition and function exemplifying a particular type of communal living and defensive organization, and in terms of their harmonious relationship with their environment. Tianluokeng Earthen Building Cluster is a neat Olympic-rings-shaped group of five earthen buildings: one square building and four round buildings around it. Many travelers call it "four dishes and one soup".
