What To Expect
This popular full day tour by 4x4 will take you into the occupied northern part of Cyprus. Visit intriguing spots, including the ancient city of Salamis and the old town of Famagusta, and cast your eyes over the ‘ghost town' of Varosha.
Your journey into the past starts with a photo stop at Deryneia before crossing the checkpoint into northern Cyprus. From here, you'll gaze out over the haunting sight of Varosha, a once popular beach resort abandoned since the Turkish invasion more than 40 years ago. Then you'll have free time to explore Famagusta and see the main sights, including the Venetian castle and the Gothic cathedral turned mosque.
Your journey will then continue to the ancient site of Salamis. Explore its ancient roads and ruined temples as well as the partially restored amphitheatre. You can also have lunch near the site before visiting the tomb of St Barnabas, the patron saint of Cyprus.

Not wheelchair accessible. Infants must sit on laps. Most travelers can participate. Note that this is a very popular and in-demand activity – if the excursion led by the driver in the language of your choice is sold out, you'll go on one with an English-speaking driver, and information at the meeting points will be given in the language of your choice. Wheelchairs, car seats and pushchairs can't be taken into the 4x4 vehicle. This tour/activity will have a maximum of 30 travelers. Confirmation will be received at time of booking
