After only another 220 steps, the destination is reached and the reward is breath-taking. From the tower of the town hall can be seen the picturesque Tauber valley and Rothenburg’s medieval old town, in all its glory: the churches, the completely intact town walls, walkable for two kilometres, and the market square that people traverse on their way to the Plönlein, the Crime Museum or the tower walkway. Just beneath the viewing platform, a stork has taken up position on the roof of the town hall.
