What To Expect

The first stop will be Alausí, a small town considered national heritage for its history and architecture. In this lovely city, you'll take the train known as 'The Devil's Nose', which in its day was considered one of the greatest engineering feats the world had seen. This railway was built in 1899 with the intention of linking the coastal city of Guayaquil with the capital of the highlands of Quito. This incredible train ride crosses and descends an almost perpendicular mountain face through the use of curves. The trip continues along the Pan-American Highway to Ingapirca, which is the main Inca archeological site in Ecuador. You'll have the opportunity to appreciate one of the most important Inca structures, an elliptical platform known as the 'Temple of the Sun'. Here, you'll also find courtyards, terraces and other ruins.
