What To Expect
Welcome to El-Alamein! This modest coastal town, located about 100 km West of Alexandria, was once the theatre of two major battles between the British and the Axis forces in 1942. The city was extremely important, strategically speaking, as it was flanked on the south by the impassable Qattara Depression, making it easy to defend and control, keeping a foothold for the invaluable Suez Canal. This tour will allow you to discover the historical wonders of this town. You'll get to visit the local Military Museum and explore numerous memorial cemeteries maintained by Germany, Italy, and Great Britain who still today honor their fallen soldiers were erected near the battle site.
