Itinerary

After catching the train in San Sebastián, we will begin our path in the small town of Zarautz, where we will visit the old town, visit the market and understand how Basque society has evolved over time, integrating wine and the Christian religion in its culture. Then, we will continue along the old "Camino del Norte" through the hills and by the ocean. It will be difficult, but we will pass a centuries-old hermitage with incredible views, admiring the vineyards and idyllic rural surroundings. As a reward for our effort, we will descend the mountain to visit my favorite Txakolindegi, Gaintza. There you will learn how they make Txakoli basque wine in a more responsible way with the environment and we will taste the wine, we will eat Anchovies and Bonito del Norte, and we will have a great time with the family that owns the winery. We can even buy some bottles for a cheaper price than in the supermarkets! We will end this experience by walking through the narrow streets of the medieval town of Getaria, where we will remember the exploits and ways of life of its most illustrious inhabitants. I will be happy to suggest places to eat or show you how to return to your hotel after this experience.
