Visit Sami Museum and Tankavaara Gold Village

Go on a cultural adventure and learn about the Lappish history in a gold village and about the local Sami culture in the Siida Sámi Museum.The first stop of the day is the Tankavaara Gold Village. Put on rubber boots and learn how to pan gold. Follow the instructions of your guide and if you are lucky you might find some gold specks to bring back home! You will have time to wash about 2-3 pans of sand to look for gold. After about one hour you will enjoy a tasty buffet lunch before heading towards the Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida. The museum shows the history of the Sámi and the area from the Ice Age to the Modern Ages. You can learn about the different Sámi languages, cultural and architectural heritage and livelihood. At the end of the day, you will head back with a lot of knowledge about the culture in Lapland.
