After morning departure from Oxford, you’ll start the day by visiting the fascinating village of Great Tew. A fairy-tale village of thatched cottages and beautiful landscapes that is away from the tourists. The home of several famous characters and the future home of royalty.From Great Tew, you'll then continue on to Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. Here you’ll have time to browse among honey-coloured buildings, cosy pubs, narrow streets, interesting shops and tiny tea rooms.Your next stop is the picturesque village of Lower Slaughter, one of the prettiest villages in the Northern Cotswolds and set in the most amazing countryside.A trip to the Cotswolds would not be complete without visiting what is arguably the most famous Cotswolds town and regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England; Bourton-on-the-Water. Known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ there is plenty to see and do with a wealth of attractions, shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Here you have free time to explore and enjoy some lunch.From here, you'll go through some enchanting Cotswold villages to the town of Burford, often called the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. A very iconic town and home to one of the most beautiful and ancient churches in the region. In the afternoon, you'll travel along the stunning Windrush Valley visiting hidden villages like Swinbrook, which is the home of the notorious Mitford Sisters. Then a highlight of tour, the beautiful village and ancient ruins of Minster Lovell. This pretty village on the River Windrush boasts plenty of Cotswold stone and thatched roofs, as well as holding the title of being the region’s most haunted village. Minster Lovell is perhaps best known for the ruins of its 15th-century hall, owned by generations of the Lovell family.You will have full control over the itinerary and route over the day so if there is somewhere else you'd rather visit, or simply wish to swap things around you can! After a jam-packed day, you will return back to Oxford.
