What To Expect

Are you a fan of Oxford’s most famous TV detectives? Join the Inspector Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour guided walking tour for a fun look at all the Oxford locations for these popular TV Detective series. Hugely entertaining even if you haven’t seen all the episodes. A lovely way to look round Oxford and get glimpses into the old world of academia, as described in Colin Dexter’s novels.See all the iconic University buildings, The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Libraries – all centuries old. Your Guide will show you down the cobbled lanes and alleyways where the old pubs, frequented by Morse, can be found and visited after your tour.Follow in Morse, Lewis and Endeavour’s footsteps to seek out the crime scenes in some of Oxford’s most iconic locations, including Radcliffe Square where some of the oldest colleges are located. This is part of and right next to the main University Libraries, the Bodleian Libraries which feature in many episodes and which can be seen from the outside.Of course in the series all the colleges were given different names but you can glimpse through to the beautiful college Quadrangles and staircases to the ‘Rooms’ where numerous ‘murders’ took place. You’ll see the pubs which Morse and his younger self, Endeavour used to love to visit after work. These include The White Horse, the world famous Turf Tavern, the Kings Arms to name a few, all within 200m of each other. However, you’ll need the help of your expert Guide to show you down all the alleyways to find them. You’ll also see the erstwhile named Randolph Hotel which housed the Morse bar.Your Guide will remind you of some of the story lines and give you an inkling of the original author, Colin Dexter’s views on academic life, collegiate rivalries and traditions and which gave rise to some of his most ingenious plots. A real treat of a tour, to explore Oxford in a fun way.Even if you’re not a Morse fan, this a great, fun tour option that includes all the key locations of central Oxford. You’ll notice not very much has changed here over this last century and may recognise many streets and buildings from numerous TV shows or movies in addition to the Morse franchise.
