What To Expect

Aberdeenshire boasts the highest number of castles in Scotland with an astounding 263 in the region. A few of these castles remain unchanged even today whilst others have been modernized and brought into the 21st century. You'll hit the road and travel deeper into Castle Country to discover some of Aberdeenshire's most iconic castles and learn more about their history from your driver guide. Dating as far back as the 13th century, the ruins of these castles tell tales of intense clan rivalries and invasions from near and far, each providing a little insight into Scottish life way back in the day. Each castle is unique and was built depending on wealth and status at the time. Some of them may look familiar as these famous fortresses have often been used as the backdrop in famous films and the odd few are still used as family homes. You'll visit three castles, Craigievar Castle, Castle Fraser and Fyvie Castle, and have the chance to really dive into their past.
