All the best bits of Thassos feature on this full day tour. Kick off in Thassos town to see the exquisite collection of ancient sculptures and statues in the archaeological museum. Then, in Panagia, you'll visit its blue-domed church and see the miniature canals carrying water from the mountains. Next is Aliki, a beautiful promontory lined by beaches, where you'll have time for some strolling and sunning. Then it's on to Archangel Michael, a 12th century working monastery perched on a cliff edge. Lastly, we'll stop off in Kinira where you'll have some free time for lunch.
Thassos is a beautiful place by day, but instead of heading here for more sun, sea and sand, this trip gives you free time to explore when the place really comes alive – at night. Free time here is to use as you choose. Drop in at a host of beach bars for a sunset cocktail and when the stars come out, you can enjoy the lively atmosphere the village is famous for. Dip in and out of the tavernas overlooking the Aegean, or stroll the cobbles in search of the perfect holiday souvenir in the boutique shops and stalls. Streets filled with the sounds of traditional Greek music, anywhere is a good place to take a load off and watch the world go by.
This 4x4 tour seeks out a few of the best-kept secrets in Thassos. Buckle up and get ready to venture down dusty tracks to find Thassos's best beaches. The first one will be Marble beach, also known as Saliara, named after the white marble dust from the quarries above that's settled on the beach. Then, it's on to Paradise beach. Only a 4x4 can reach Salonikios beach, which makes it one of the most untouched spots on the island. You'll also swing by Giola Lagoon, a natural swimming pool carved out of the rock, before reaching Astris, right on the southern tip.
Home to a dazzling array of marine life and warm Aegean waters, Thassos is the ideal spot for a first-time scuba dive. You'll start the course by learning the basics at the dive school. Getting to grips with your equipment, you'll learn diving theory and some all-important scuba skills. Dive in and your expert instructors will have you feeling like a pro as you spot colourful coral, swaying seagrass and shimmering shoals of fish. What's more, they'll snap a few underwater photos that you'll get to take home too – the perfect keepsake from a day of unforgettable holiday memories.
Thassos is as authentic as they come, and this even extends down to its unspoilt beaches. You'll depart from Golden Beach in the mid-morning and set off to explore the eastern coastline. And the best bit about travelling by sea is that you'll reach those hidden beaches and coves that few can access by land. You'll hop from one to the next, swimming, sunbathing and fishing – in the traditional Greek style – as you go. On board, you'll find a mini bar and a sun deck to soak up the rays. Then, the barbecue will be lit and the catch of the day grilled and served for lunch
On this full day excursion, you'll climb aboard a 4x4 vehicle and be swept away deep into the rugged hills of central Thassos. Buckle up and speed off along winding country tracks and stop by the Virgin Mary monastery before driving the hairpin roads up Mt Ipsarion, the island's highest peak. Afterwards, we'll make our way to the waters of Lake Maries, with its mesmerising series of gushing waterfalls. Pit stop in a nearby village for lunch and we'll head on to the abandoned settlement of Kastro. Check out the church and soak up the panoramas over the island and Mt Athos before hopping back in the vehicles for the return ride to base.
There's nothing quite like lying back and feeling the sea spray as the sun warms your body. Your captain will strike a course along the south coast, giving you panoramic views over the mountains, cliffs and dinky fishing villages. And around midday, you'll drop anchor at a secluded beach - one that's only accessible from the sea. Dive in and swim in the clear waters, stretch out on the beach or grab a snorkel to check out the marine life. You'll be served a barbecue lunch on deck and afterwards, have more time to sunbathe or swim before sailing homewards.
