As the sun sets over the island, the candles are lit and the actors take to the stage. The sound of the bouzouki fills the air, and you find yourself tapping your feet to the rhythm. Dmitri, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Why not try dancing the zeibekiko traditional Greek dance? You follow the rhythm as the tempo gets faster and faster.'The evening begins with a transfer to the inviting taverna, where you can indulge in the traditional cuisine of Zante, prepared where possible with produce fresh from the family's own farm. Homemade bread is made from their own wheat, and most of the meat is reared on the farm, too. Organic vegetables are grown by the family for salads and sides, and you'll even get unlimited wine to sip on.Dmitri says, ‘My memories of family gatherings, holidays and special occasions all involve my mother, aunts and grannies baking. Beach hopping in Zante has never been as much fun. This luxury cruise along the east and north coasts of the island takes in its most famous beaches – with no fewer than four swim stops at Psarou, Xigia, Makris Gialos and a secret spot. You'll also glide by the world-famous Smuggler's Cove for the perfect chance to grab a photo.Your adventure kicks off the moment you board the boat at Zante port. Hugging the coastline, your captain will sail towards Psarou and drop anchor. Dive into the Ionian for your first swim stop of the cruise. Back on board, we'll glide on to Xigia, a sulfuric beach renowned for its turquoise hues and supposed healing waters. After a stop here, we'll sail on towards Makris Gialos for a swim stop off this beach flanked by sea caves.The boat will then round Cape Skinari on the northern tip of Zante and cruise along the entire north coast towards the landmark Smuggler's Cove. This picture-postcard white pebble beach has an Instagrammable shipwreck from 1980 embedded in the strand. Snacks, a soft drink, beer or wine are served on board while we pause for a photo. You'll round off the cruise with one more chance to cool off at a hidden cove on route back to shore.
