Your tour will begin at the village of Firostefani and will end at the island’s capital, Fira, including at least 7 stops along the way, in an effort to cover as many facets of Greek and Santorinian cuisine as possible. From traditional Greek coffee to local meze, decadent desserts and an abundance of local spirits, this food tour has everything you could possibly dream of and then some!
You will meet your expert local guide at a designated meeting point in Firostefani. From there, you will be lead in a picturesque pebbled path through the traditional towns of Firostefani and Fira. The walk will take you by the famous blue-domed church of Santorini, on a caldera view footpath, which offers unobstructed views of the volcano; arguably, one of the most majestic views the island can offer. Through the old part of Fira town, you will pass by the Catholic church and stroll through the shopping area of the town.
During the tour, you will have the opportunity to taste the finest offerings of Santorini. Revel in traditional Greek street food, such as the world-famous ‘souvlaki’, sample local beers, wine, and raki, savour Cycladic cheeses and cold cuts, try local olive oil, and spoil yourself rotten by indulging in naughty delicacies and traditional sweets from a local bakery, such as ‘bougatsa’- the Greek ‘phyllo’ pastry with custard filling, accompanied by traditional Greek coffee.
The tastings will also include customary Greek dishes, including appetizers like ‘fava beans’, ‘tzatziki’, ‘tomato fritters’ and Greek salad, main courses like ‘moussaka’, and desserts like ‘loukoumades’, all depending on availability and seasonality.
What better way to learn about Greek cuisine than through personal experience? Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the island as well as its Mediterranean flavor with a tour that will give you authentic local insight!
