What To Expect

Greek legend is the theme on this half-day excursion - you're off to visit Knossos, home of the mythical Minotaur. This creature portrayed in Greek mythology as half-bull half-man supposedly lived in a labyrinth under the palace of King Minos. And this palace is the first stop on your agenda. You'll hear all about the Minotaur and the story's origins, and get a glimpse of life during the ancient Minoan period. Check out the remaining architecture, like the paintbox-red pillars that continue to hold up an ornate roof and the relics of a colourful bull painting. Afterwards you'll head to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion which is home to an important collection of artifacts from the Minoan time period including many finds from excavations of Knossos Palace. Here you can see works of art like the bronze Bull Leaping statue the Prince of Lilies mural and the Snake Goddess figurine.
