You will learn about the Garifuna people from a Garifuna and in a Garifuna village. When learning about indigenous cultures, it's essential to listen to the actual indigenous point of view because history and books have twisted our story a lot. Since 2011 I have been researching my culture by speaking with elders, reading books, and traveling to other Garifuna villages (including our original home, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines). A tour with someone else will not give you access to the knowledge I have obtained within the past eleven years.
