This sprawling beach is particularly popular with visitors as it provides one of the few uncrowded free spaces in the city and has attracted the rich and wealthy among Mumbai's population for almost a century.Today it is one of the city’s most affluent areas, and home to many of Bollywood’s brightest stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Amrish Puri and Ajay Devgan.A number of sports can be seen played here, including India’s favorite pastime, cricket. The surrounding area is famous for its reasonably-priced eateries and delicious street food, notably bhelpuri, pani puri, chaats, and pav bhaji. At the north end of Juhu Beach stands Gandhi Gram, once the historic home of India’s great leader, Mahatma Gandhi.Juhu Beach itself was cleaned and cleared of hawkers in 2006, and can be easily accessed from either Vile Parle, Santacruz or Andheri railway stations. Juhu is surrounded by the Arabian Sea in the west, and Santacruz and Vile Parle in the east. The area offers a wide range of accommodation, with a large number of luxury hotels situated on the southern end of the beach.
