Begin your city tour with the blessing of the Golden Temple, the most important Sikh shrine, also known as Harimandir Sahib and Darbar Sahib. Then in the evening visit the India-Pakistan Wagah border to see the Flag Retreat Ceremony, an army outpost on the Indo-Pak border 30km from Amritsar where the daily highlight is the evening 'Beating the Retreat Ceremony. ' Soldiers of both countries march in the perfect exercise, going through the steps to drop their respective national flags. As the sun goes down, nationalist fervor mounts and, to thunderous applause .
