Today, you will be picked up from your hotel in Chennai, at around 7.00am and drive to Pondicherry. A guide will accompany you during this drive that might take roughly four hours. Known as the French Riviera of the East, Pondicherry, or Puducherry is a remarkably striking place. Upon arrival, your first destination will be the Sri Aurobindo Ashram – a sanctuary of holiness and peace. Then, you will proceed to the Pondicherry Museum and Sculpture Gallery. Next, you will drive to Auroville, which has been called ‘a parallel world’, ‘utopia’, and many other names. A major attraction here is the Matrimandir, which means the temple of the mother – it features a 30-meter high golden globe. This temple is the very soul of Auroville and is not attributed to any religion. Finally, it will be time to drive to your hotel. Also, you may sample the local cuisine. Many of the preparations have a distinctively identifiable French influence.
