This is an informative, safe and easy glacier walk on the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue. Your certified glacier guide will lead you through a frozen wonderland of different shades of glacier ice; white ice, blue ice, and crystal clear ice. 6 km (3.7 mi) after Skógar you turn left (just after the bridge) onto road 221 and then follow road 221 for about 5 km (3 mi) to the Sólheimajökull parking area. (Expected 20 - 30 min for this part).From the East (Vík)
3 km (1.9 mi) after you pass road 222, you turn right (just before the bridge) onto road 221 (gravel road) and then follow road 221 for about 5 km to the Sólheimajökull parking area. (Expected 20 - 30 min. for this part).
