What To Expect

The Whale Watching Activity is in the whale watching capital of the world: Húsavík. The activity lasts approximately 3 hours.

The snorkeling activity takes place at the Spring Lagoon, which gets its name from its geothermal activity. The river is always comfortable, 12–17 °C.

The river’s floor is full of mesmerizing, dancing volcanic sands and multicolored sediments leaping from the bottom. The heated water erupts from below the bottom, causing beautiful designs and ripples in the riverbed while you drift along the surface above. This has been described by the phrase "Bubbling Sands".

Mixed in with the bubbling sands, you will see beautiful fields of green algae, which are mesmerizing to look at.

The lagoon has sometimes also been called a snail lagoon due to the number of snails living there. It is also one of Iceland's greatest trout rivers.

Both locations are on the Diamond circle making it the perfect self-drive activity.

Important info

Not wheelchair accessible. Not recommended for pregnant travelers. No heart problems or other serious medical conditions. Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level. All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the activity. The form can be filled out online. All participant's height, weight and age information must be provided to local operator to ensure they bring the best fitting drysuit. The activity operator will contact you after booking to ask for this information.. IMPORTANT - Participants over 60 years of age must have their doctor sign the approval form in order to participate. Drysuits are worn over your own clothing. We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks as a base layer under the dry suit. Minimum height is 4ft 11in (150cm). Minimum weight is 100lbs (45kg).. Maximum height and weight is 6ft7in (200cm) and 264lbs (120kg).. Participants must be comfortable in water and able to swim, physically fit and healthy. Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting. All participants must be able to communicate in English. Not suitable for pregnant women. All participants must be at least 12 years old. This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund. This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund. This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers. Confirmation will be received at time of booking
