The ideal itinerary to explore the city history, which is connected to trade, banks, and money.
This tour starts from Palazzo San Giorgio, which became the headquarters of the first Italian modern bank, the Banco San Giorgio, in 1407.
We proceed to the Porto Antico Area, then to Piazza Bianchi and the Loggia dei Mercanti, the first stock market dating back to the end of XVI century.
Nearby we will visit a typical shop where you will enjoy a delicious tasting of trofie with pesto sauce and pansoti with walnuts sauce.
In the afternoon we will visit Piazza San Matteo, which was the curial square of the powerful Doria family, Palazzo Doria, home of the Fondazione Carige, and Palazzo Spinola, home of the Banco di Sardegna.
The visit will lead us to Via Garibaldi, symbol of the Golden Century of Genoa, where many stately homes became headquarters of modern banks.
The tour ends in Piazza de Ferrari, where the liberty building of the Nuova Borsa is located
