Disvocer the local tradition of handmade “rust printing” on fabrics. In this workshop, located in the historical centre of Forlì skilled craftsmen carve decorative patterns on pear wood blocks, thus obtaining the printing stamps.
The wooden blocks are then soaked with printing dyes. This kind of printing is wash-resistant. The decorative patterns are either traditional symbols of Emilia Romagna’s rural world, such as the rooster, the “caveja” (the traditional wrought iron pivot with allegoric decorations, used to hold yokes in place), wheat spikes or grapes, or original floral or decorative motifs designed by the worskhop itself.
