Paestum & Mozzarella Farm

Temples and mozzarella might not work as pizza toppings but for a cultural daytrip, they're a perfect match. You'll head south to Paestum, a small village with a big reputation, to explore its three well-preserved Greek temples and to visit a mozzarella farm.First up is a journey back in time to the ancient Greek city of Paestum. Amid its ruins stand three colossal temples – those of Hera, Athena and Neptune. The Second Temple of Hera is in remarkably good nick, considering it's about 2,500 years old. There's also a great museum on site, where you'll discover finds excavated from the site and learn about life in ancient Paestum.We'll then drop into the mozzarella farm – the Campania region is the heartland of buffalo mozzarella. Here, you'll learn how water buffalo are milked, before a chance to try real fresh mozzarella made by the experts. You'll have free time for lunch - bring your own or check out the farm's bistro – before heading back to your hotel in the afternoon.
