With this short walk, equipped with binoculars, we will discover the rich local fauna of the Ariscianne-Boccadoro wetland, a green oasis for many species of permanent and migratory birds, but also for amphibians, reptiles and mammals.
In a place where the reeds dominate, among which, fresh water meets salt water.
We will move around the nineteenth-century tank of Boccadoro, built to collect resurgence water and which was supposed to serve as a basin to serve drinking water to the city of Trani (BT).
Then on the dirt roads, flanked by tamarisks, which cross the marshes and cultivated fields of Ariscianne where the ancient Aveldìus once flowed here, depicted in the "segmentum VI" of the Tabula Peutingeriana; an ancient river that originated from the Murge, lapped the village of Andria to the west and must have flowed into a sort of small port between Turenum (Trani) and Bardulí (Barletta).
Today its bed is traced by the Ciappetta-Cammaggio and Ariscianne canals.
