Self-guided bike tour from Lucca to the sea

Thanks to the perfect itinerary provided by a handy app, you will reach the sea about 30 km from Lucca, first riding on the cycle path along the Serchio river and then on country roads, avoiding the most popular routes.The beaches of Versilia are a favored destination for summer holidays, but next to the villages with trendy shops and bars there's also a "wilder" part of the coast with long sandy beaches that can only be reached by crossing the Natural Park of Migliarino.Continuing the bike excursion between free beaches and pinewood, you'll reach Marina di Torre del Lago Puccini, a village with some bars, restaurants and private beaches that is probably the perfect mix between wilderness and good services.After a total of 40 km, you'll arrive in Viareggio, a charming town characterized by Liberty-style architecture that is definitely worth a stroll along the waterfront, among historic buildings, beach clubs, shops and bars.You can stop wherever you prefer along the 10 km of coastline, but at the end of the trip you still have to reach Viareggio to take the local train back to Lucca (17 minutes) after a fantastic day at the beach.
