Discover the Park of the Rupestrian Churches, just facing the Sassi of Matera in the Murgia highland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007.While on this hiking tour, you'll find out how the park is mainly characterized by ravines, the so called "Gravine", a truly natural beauty which will unfold before your eyes. The tour will then provide you with a deeper understanding of the humankind as you'll be able admire Palaeolithic settlements, Neolithic villages in the “Murgia Timone” area, sheep farming communities and Greek-Byzantine ones. Travelling back in time, you'll learn how monastries, lavras and rupestrian churches were once completely carved in the rock.Last but not least, at the end of this hiking experience, you'll be given the unique chance to admire the city of Matera with the Sassi at sunset and from an unconventional point of view.
