While the thought of visiting Kibera slums might sound overwhelming, the experience of spending a few hours in this vibrant, multifaceted community is educational and informative. With its maze-like network of unmarked streets and narrow alleys, Kibera is best visited in the morning or mid-morning led by Lucas who has a razor-sharp knowledge on the inspiring creativity, resilience, and ingenuity employed by Kibera residents to survive under challenging circumstances in what we call the “city of hope.”
Wheelchair accessible. Stroller accessible. Near public transportation. Infants must sit on laps. Not recommended for travelers with back problems. No heart problems or other serious medical conditions. Most travelers can participate. This experience requires good weather.
