Tsavo East, Amboseli, and Taita Hills 4-day safari from Mombasa

Day 1: we will drive north along the main highway towards Nairobi, following the route of the railway line built by the British in the late nineteenth century. The road passes through the warehouses and workshops on the outskirts of Mombasa, climbing steadily. Soon the vast plains of Tsavo appears with the rolling Taita Hills on the horizon. We will access the Tsavo East National Park (12,000 sqkm) through the Buchuma Gate arriving at the lodge for lunch. Relax or a swim before setting off back into the park for your afternoon game drive. Return to the lodge at the sunset. Dinner and overnight will be at the Aruba Ashnil or Voi Safari Lodge.Day 2: After an early breakfast we will leave for Amboseli National Park driving to the main highway and continue northwards, passing Hunters Lodge, the site of the infamous ‘Man-eaters of Tsavo’ incident where lions attacked the workers building the railway. You will leave the main road at Emali and head South towards Amboseli. If the weather is clear you will be able to spot the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. We will have lunch at Amboseli Sentrim Camp. During the afternoon a game drives through Amboseli (392 sqkm) will take you across this vast lakebed, often dry, but still very swampy in areas. Amboseli is best known for its great herds of elephants. You will spot them standing knee-deep in the water to freshen up. Take a chance to spot some amazing wildlife: cheetah, buffalos, giraffes, and many types of gazelle. The return to the camp is due at the sunset. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sentrim Camp or similar.Day 3: Early morning game drive in the park. Then return to the camp for breakfast and depart for Taita Hills with arrival due for lunch. In the afternoon we head to Salt Lick Lodge built on stilts overlooking a floodlighted waterhole so you will be able to spot the animals coming to drink at night. Evening game drive in the Sanctuary returning to the lodge at sunset. Dinner and overnight at Salt Lick Lodge.Day 4: Early morning game drive to the Sanctuary returning to the lodge for breakfast, check out and departure for Mombasa. You will arrive at your hotel/residence in the afternoon.
