Oudong, located in Kampong Speu Province, is a small town 40km northwest of Phnom Penh. It is called Oudong Meanchey. It served as the capital of Cambodia under several sovereigns between 1618 and 1866. It is now a place of pilgrimage for Cambodian’s and has many local visitors during religion celebrations.
You must have a suitable level of fitness to undertake this tour as you are required to climb to the summit of a hill to visit the newest addition to Phnom Oudong, which is a modern temple home to a Buddha relic, previously housed in Phnom Penh.The attraction here is not just the stupa but also the breathtaking view over the surrounds. You can also interact with and feed the monkeys who live in large numbers here.
