Experience the beauty of the Knuckles mountain range during this full-day trekking excursion. The Sinhalese refer to it as "Dumbara Kanduvetiya", meaning "the mist-laden mountain range" and its name comes from a series of recumbent folds and peaks in the west of the massif which resembles the knuckles of clenched fists when viewed from afar.Early start at 6.00am with a pick-up from your hotel and arrival at the destination after 2 hours. During this moderate difficulty trail, you will marvel at the true beauty of the Knuckles range which has a lot to offer including the “Thelgamu-Oya” river, the paddy fields with the mountains in the backdrop at the traditional villages, and the unique flat area on the top of the mountain which resembles the spine of the elephant. This is a scenic trail made particularly beautiful by the vegetation, the colorful butterflies, wildflowers, and birds that inhabit the mountain. You will see waterfalls and visit Atanwala, a traditional village that overlooks terraced paddy fields and gardens.
