Your tour starts at 7.30am where you will be picked up from your hotel. You will then proceed to visit the Nelligala temple, a modern international Buddhist center that contains the relic of the Arhat. The view from this temple is beautiful as you can view the Knuckle mountain range and Adams Peak and several other high mountains in the central hills.Then travel for about 45 minutes to Pilimatalawa to visit the Gadaladeniya temple which is situated on a rock and is covered with small pools. This was built by King Buwanekabahu IV. The temple was designed by a South Indian architect Ganesrarachari by following Hindu artistic styles. Next, you will travel for about 20 minutes to visit the Lankathilaka Rajamaha Viharaya to learn Buddhism. This temple was built on a natural rock and is considered to be one of the most magnificent architectural structures built in the Gampola era.Towards the end of your tour, you will visit the Embekke Devalaya to experience traditional carving and Hindu temple tradition. It is located 20 minutes away from the Lankathilaka temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Kataragama built by King Vikramabahu III. The shrine consists of the dancing hall and the drummers' hall. The drummers' hall is the section that has attracted the most number of tourists due to its impressive wood carvings on the pillars and its high pitched roofs.
