Essaouira, the beautiful drawing, nicknamed the pearl of the Atlantic, known from the 14th century under the name of Mogador. Located 170 km north of Agadir surrounded by ramparts, it is called the city of the winds. Its white Medina with blue doors and windows is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Essaouira continue to inspire many artists and international film makers, and the city is often used as a film location. Orson Welles'othello was the first foreign feature film shot in Essaouira in 1952.
