What To Expect

Experience the history of the Second Mexican Empire like a Mexican soap opera with this unique audio walk that tells you the tragic love story of Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg and Empress Carlotta. Chapultepec Castle was built in 1785, but 80 years after its construction, the Emperors of Mexico arrived. This soundwalk is narrated by a telenovela producer, Adela Salinas. Let your imagination run wild as you listen to the 3D sound effects and the narration of one of the most famous love stories in Mexican history. As you explore the rooms and antiques inside the castle, you'll learn about the Battle of Chapultepec and the Hall of Carriages, among other things. Adela tells the tragic love story full of betrayal and passion in a unique "soap opera" style, until the moment when the couple is led out of the castle by Benito Juarez's troops. The tour ends with you learning the tragedy of Carlotta, who went mad and left Maximilian all alone in Mexico.
