*Please note that the Cromlech of Almendres is currently under restoration, meaning that visitors will view the stones from behind a fence, thus restricting the view. Restoration is expected to be completed by March 2024.*
On this tour you’ll delve into Portugal’s Neolithic & Chalcolithic periods (circa 5500 to 2200 BC) and explore the region’s most remarkable sites, including the Menir of Almendres, the Cromlech of Almendres, and the Great Dolmen of Zambujeiro.
The Alentejo is home to many megalithic structures, including cromlechs, menirs, and dolmens. It is during this period when agriculture emerged, along with many other significant cultural and social developments.
If you’re interested in prehistory, or the history behind prehistoric sites similar to Stonehenge, or even standing stones seen on shows like Outlander, we think you’ll really enjoy this trip!
Your tour guides are trained archaeologists and look forward to showing you some spectacular sites from Portugal's past.
