What To Expect

Meet your guide in Madalena and explore the Vinhas da Criação Velha Trail declared a World Heritage Site in 2004.On this 8.5 km hike, you will explore surreal vineyards surrounded by walls of volcanic lava stone. You will learn about the truly special conditions of these vineyards which create a wine that can only be found there.Enjoy an unusual experience walking on a 1500-year-old lava field. You can also admire the view of the rocky islets facing Madalena, Pico Mountain, and other geological formations.You will end this excursion on a high note with a wine tasting at the local wine cooperative.
