WRECK CORVETA AFONSO CERQUEIRA

**The Corveta Afonso Cerqueira** was a warship of the Portuguese Navy and was sunk on 4 September 2018 south of Cabo Girão off the island of Madeira. The ship, declared a national park soon after the sinking, forms an artificial barrier home to various marine animals. The Corvette is **85 meters long** and is still in excellent condition and was sunk for scuba diving; for this reason, it is possible not only to visit the external part of the wreck (where most of the marine life is found) but also the internal part including the engine rooms, the bridge, the bar and many other areas.
