Visitors will be educated on the true history of Antebellum Slavery in Louisiana
Travel down the historical River Road to the Whitney Plantation Museum, where the largest slave rebellion in the United States took place. During your visit, you will learn about the history of slavery on a southern Louisiana sugarcane plantation and how within five decades "Sugar Changed the World".
Hear how during her antebellum reign, Louisiana planters were producing a quarter of the worlds cane-sugar supply. "Queen" Sugar produced more wealth locally than "King" Cotton, making Louisiana the second-wealthiest state in the United States.
See live statues, real slave quarters and hear true stories of enslaves who lived on the plantation as well as historians.
