This is a small group tour at maximum 8 tourists to the famous Transfagarasan Road.
We will see Poenari Citadel known as the true castle of Vlad the Impaler - Dracula. The citadel is currently under renovation and we will only see it from the outside.
After we will admire the panoramic views of the Argeș Valley from the national park of the Fagaras Mountains.
Next is Vidraru Dam and Lake, where you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful lake and the impressive dam. The lake is surrounded by mountains and lush forests, which are home to the largest population of brown bears in Europe. They live freely in the forest and often comes to the street.
Then we will reach the Transfăgărășan, a fabulous mountain road built in the 70's to serve military purposes.
We will make a stop at the impressive Goat waterfall and then we will go to the Bâlea glacial lake, where we will stay for 90 minutes.
Not wheelchair accessible. Near public transportation. Most travelers can participate. On the mountain the temperature is 20 degrees Celsius lower than in Bucharest, dress thickly!. The Poienari Fortress is currently under renovation and you cannot visit the interior.. From November to April most bears hibernate. From November to May access to Balea Lake cannot be done due to heavy snow and avalanche risk. Children under 7 years old cannot participate in shared tours. It is not allowed to consume food and hot drinks in the vehicle. Wearing seat belts is mandatory throughout the journey. This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund. This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers.
