Hiking in the Banat Mountains

Explore one of the most beautiful places in the Banat Mountains - go for a hike in the Caras River’s Gorge! This tour is excellent for those who like to combine sightseeing with sport activity and breathtaking views. Cheile Carasului (Caras River’s Gorge) is located right in the middle of the National Park Semenic, around 125 km from Timisoara. Along the way, you will stop and visit the city of Resita - the capital of the Upper Banat Region. This city had a glorious industrial past which ended with the fall of communism. You will visit an open-air museum that displays steam locomotives produced here 140 ago. Afterward, you will head directly to the Caras River’s Gorge. It's one of the longest and wildest gorges in Romania. Explore the path along the river which has an easy-moderate difficulty. You will see there a lot of karst land-forms like caverns, caves, rock walls, sinkholes. After a lunch break, you will go back to Timisoara with a light heart and head full of memories.
