The Mikumi National Park near Morogoro, Tanzania, was established in 1964. It covers an area of 3230 km² hence is the fifth largest in the country. Mikumi hosts buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons zebras, leopards, crocodiles and many more just to mention a few.Depart from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park by 4x4 land cruiser and start with a morning game drive. Stop for lunch at the most spectacular camp in Mikumi and continue for the afternoon game drive in the park. This is a huge park so there's a lot to see including the abundant wildlife of the Mkata floodplain. You'll be looking out for lions surveying their grassy kingdom as well as giraffe, zebra, impala, elephant and wildebeest. The birding is also good with many different bird species present such as hornbills, lilac breasted rollers, crowned cranes and more. In the late afternoon or early evening drive back to Dar es Salaam.
