What To Expect

Amboni, have been associated with fascinating stories of a deity residing in the caves where traditional rites are still continuing to be held up to the present time. Ethnic groups such as the Segeju, Sambaa, Bondei and Digo who lived near the caves used it for prayers. There are chambers treated as sacred chambers for worshipping some spirits. One of them is called “Mzimu wa Mabuvu”. Some believe that there is a powerful deity which can alleviate their sickness, sufferings or increase their fertility.

This is where Osale Otanga, the person who gave colonialists a hard time lived. The caverns are associated with dazzling stories. One cavern was allegedly used as a hideout by a famous Pre-Uhuru pair of Robin Hoods in the 1950s Mau Mau insurrection.

The cave attracts tourist as well as students for their geography lessons.
