What To Expect

Take a memorable trip to the mountains west of Denver. This Mount Evans tour is a combination of natural beauty and fascinating history. In addition to seeing the world from the top of Mount Evans, you will enjoy stops at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, Echo Lake and the city of Idaho Springs.Red Rocks Amphitheater is a musical venue surrounded by red sandstone rock formations. The natural acoustics of this location have made it a favorite venue of performers since it opened in 1941, and several live albums were recorded there. It has seen such music groups and singers as the Beatles, John Denver and U2. The next stop on the way to the summit is scenic Echo Lake. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of crisp mountain waters surrounded by evergreen trees. This area is a favorite spot for hiking and fishing in the summer months. You will also have the opportunity to explore the historic Echo Lake Lodge. This classic mountain lodge was built in 1926 to house visitors to the Denver Parks.Having enjoyed a pleasant break, the tour continues along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway until we reach the top of Mount Evans. At 14,130 feet, this mountain is one of the tallest in the front range of the Rocky Mountains. On a clear day, you can see all the way back to Denver from this location. Of course, your main focus will be the views of the mountain range, alpine flowers and other local wildlife. You may spot Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep and mountain goats making their way through the territory. Make sure you are ready to preserve the memory with some fantastic pictures. Before heading back to Denver, you will get to see some local history in the city of Idaho Springs. In 1859, prospectors discovered gold at this location where the Chicago Creek meets Clear Creek. Larger veins of gold led to a booming mining industry. Today, you can see reminders of that gold rush period in the architecture of the historic downtown area. From Idaho Springs, you will start your return trip to Denver. You can relax and enjoy the ride to the city as you take in the beauty of Colorado.
