What To Expect

This tour focuses on a variety of different traditions and food cultures in Cape Town from the Bo-Kaap and De Waterkant. Each stop is also an opportunity to learn about the history of the cultures involved; the food and locations always relate back to important aspects of Capetonian heritage, especially about how the different communities developed together. We touch base on the Indian Ocean Slave Trade and Apartheid and how they both played a vital part in local cuisine as well as in the national consciousness of South African culture.

The Essentials tour is our "first born" :) and the most popular tour at this time. Plays off in the colourful De Waterkant, filled with history, culture but more so what the locals like to enjoy day to day. We stop at Bo Kaap Deli, Marcos African Cafe, Cafe Charles & Fireman’s Arms. 4 food and drink parings.

Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.. Dress code is comfortable, including comfortable walking shoes.. A maximum of 10 people per booking.. A moderate amount of walking is involved, approximately 2 Km.. Dress for comfort.. Not wheelchair or stroller accessible.. We CAN accommodate no seafood, shellfish and pork allergies/food restrictions.. We CAN accommodate gluten free, wheat free, nut, dairy, halal or kosher allergies/food restrictions.. Tickets are non-refundable, they are however exchangeable/transferable with a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to tour commencing.. Tour runs in slight rain but depending on how extreme, please not the guide will contact you.. Cape Town has paid street parking available. We do recommend making use of Uber or Hotel provided services. We do not finish the tour were we start from. . Please make a note on you booking if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, our guides book the food in advance to avoid missing out on any of dishes.. Bookings must be made for children of 3 years and older.. This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund. This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
