Adventure & History at Tijuca Forest (small group or private)

This Tijuca Forest tour circuit, visits a variety of attractions in the National Park that are not well known so it has a more exclusive touch. HIking approx. 6,4 km (3.8 miles), on trails made in 19th century, when the area was occupied by coffee farms and you’ll discover and learn the history of Tijuca National Park, one of the largest replanted urban forest in the planet. Along the way we visit Cascatinha Taunay (highes waterfall in the park), the Mayrink Chapel (from 1850), the Cova da Onça Bridge, the Eucalyptus Forest (an old slave cemetery) and the Bats’s Grotto (biggest gneiss cave in Brazil). After that you cool off at Baronesa Cascade waterfall, and start descending to the starting point and on the way visitng some other historical attractions of the park. The tour combines history, adventure, nature, a waterfall shower, among other attractions, visiting somehow hidden spots that reveal the beauty and personality of Rio and its tropical rainforest.

Important information

Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. Fitness required. MODERATE level hike. NO technical rock climbing, just hiking.. Hike details: approx. 6km=3.8mi (up and down rough terrain), 3h, elev. gain 448m=1469ft.. Maximum of 6 participants on the tour (or you can choose a private option). Not recommended for child under 12 and they must be accompanied.. Passport name, number, and date of birth is required at time of booking for all participants (for insurance)
