Discover Cape Sounion & Temple of Poseidon with Athens Riviera

Cape Sounio is located at the southernmost tip of the "Attica" province. On the rock that dominates this Cape and borders the open sea, the Athenians worshipped Poseidon, the god of the seas and Athena, protector of Athens. Because of its strategic location, this place was also used as an observation point for seafaring vessels approaching Athens. In fact, the Aegean Sea owes its name to the association of this rock with King Aegeus.
